A4G Contest portada-03

The Objective

The goal of the Apps4Gaps Reading Challenge is to foster a love for reading   among students while encouraging schools and libraries to support literacy.

The contest incentivizes students to read as much as possible, submit them reading logs and activities, and recognize schools with the most entries through a dedicated platform.

Target Audience

The target audience is students from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Type of contest

Participants are tasked with reading as many books they can during the three-month challenge period.

Type of participation

Each classroom will act as a team, and the total number of books read by the students in that classroom will count towards their team's score.

Rules

  • 1 The contest is open to all students currently enrolled in participating classrooms within your school
  • 2 The contest will be available for students from kindergarten to 12th grade.
  • 3 The goal is for each classroom to read as many books as possible within the contest period. The classroom with the highest total number of books read will be declared the winner.
  • 4 To participate, the students will need to complete the subscription form entering: their name, their school, their homeroom, and the books they have read.
  • 5 To participate, the student will have to read at least 7 books and mandatorily 5 of them must be from Lightbox.
  • 6 The schools’ Librarians are required to guide the students to participate in this contest and will receive a prize if their school wins the competition.

*The schools without a librarian can choose another representative to guide  the students, and to be eligible to win the prize. The ITMS Group team needs  to be notified about it.

Judge Criteria

The points earned by the students based on the number of books read, will be adjusted according to the average number of students per grade level in each  school. This ensures fairness in the competition between schools.

(This data will be uploaded by the end of every month to Apps4Gaps. )

Prizes

  • Classroom Winner: For the classroom that wins the contest, students will win a pizza party on the date of the school’s choice.
  • The Librarian/Representative: The librarian or representative for the school that wins the contest will win a trip to American Library Association Annual Conference which will happen from June 26th to 30th in Philadelphia.
