Every Book Opened Was a Victory!

This month, we proudly celebrate the incredible success of the Reading Challenge across the USVI schools community. In St. Thomas, Lockhart K-8 School earned the top spot with an impressive 1,832 books read, while in St. Croix, Pearl B. Larsen PreK-8 School led the challenge with 1,140 books read. These achievements reflect the dedication of students, teachers, librarians, and families who made reading part of everyday learning and discovery.

We also want to recognize every school that participated throughout the challenge. Each student who opened a book, explored a digital title, or spent time reading at home contributed to something meaningful. Every participating school is already a winner for encouraging curiosity, imagination, and lifelong learning through reading. The commitment shown this year proves that reading continues far beyond the classroom walls.

As summer approaches, students can continue building their reading habits at home using platforms like Alexandria, Lightbox, AV2, and Learn360. Families can create simple reading routines by exploring eBooks together, listening to narrated stories, or discovering new topics through videos and interactive activities. Keeping reading part of summer break helps students stay connected to learning while enjoying stories that inspire creativity and exploration.
